A tropical paradise in the Indian Ocean, 25-50 km off the Tanzanian coast. Made famous for its spices, Zanzibar was known as the Spice Island. The island offers a unique combination of outstanding tropical beaches, historical stone town, amazing flaura and fauna among its rainforests, friendly Swahili people and tasty exotic food.

Arrival in Zanzibar international airport or Ferry Terminal, pick-up and transfer to our hotel, spend the rest of the day getting to know the surroundings and exploring fabled Stone Town, where history appears to stand still. With stops at the House of Wonders, the Palace Museum (People’s Palace) and the Arab Fort amongst others, it is a fascinating look at the essence of Zanzibar.

Today we will get to explore the history of Zanzibar through the classical Spice tour. The special Spice Tour will give us an authentic experience to prove why Zanzibar was known as the Spice Island! with in depth information not only about spices, but also organically grown herbs and a detailed description about their traditional uses in medicine cosmetics and cooking. After the tour we will have an opulent traditional Swahili lunch served in a local house, here we will get a real taste of the spices in the food. In the afternoon we go for a boat trip to Changuu Island, which is also known as ‘Prison Island’ as a former prison for slaves and a quarantine station for Zanzibar and the mainland. The island is also home to Zanzibar’s Giant Aldabran Tortoise colony, some of which are over a hundred years old! After the tortoises encounters we will relax by the white sandy beach for some swimming and sunbathing then sail back to stone town.

Safari Blue is a magical island hopping adventure that will take us on locally made traditional dhows to discover the best of Zanzibar. We will sail the Indian ocean from Menai bay conservation area to the south of Zanzibar spotting marinlife, sandbanks, go snorkeling and a unique gastronomical experience with a traditional Zanzibari lunch filled with all kinds of freshly grilled sea food and conclude by relaxing by the beach on one of the uninhabited islands in the area. Afterwards we will drive to Jambiani for overnight.

No visit to Zanzibar Island can be complete without a tour of the Jozani Forest. The Forest is the last uncultivated/inhabited area on Zanzibar and its only national park. The forest is also one of the last remaining sanctuaries in the world of the Red Colubus monkey. The Jozani forest trail will take us through the rainforest to visit the “Mama Mtondoo” , the Mother Mahogany, thought to be over 200 years old, we will also visit the Mangrove swamp and walk around the Mangrove forest. Afterwards we will drive back to our hotel and spend the rest of the day relaxing by the white sand beaches of Jambiani.

Today we get back on the ocean for the dolphins tour off the coast of Kizimkazi village on the southern coast of Zanzibar. The shallow coastal waters around Kizimkazi are a favorite hangout for dolphins that come here for the reliable food supply. Afterwards we will drive to the northern part of the island where we are going to spend the next 2 days on the tropical beaches of Kendwa, Zanzibar’s most beautiful beach.

A free day where we can enjoy the crystal clear waters of Kendwa, wander around Nungwi town, the center of Zanzibar’s dhow-building industry, go on a sunset dhow cruise or just relax by the endless white sand beaches.
