Itinerary & Trip Details

Day 1: Arrival in Hanoi
Arrival in Hanoi

Arrival in Hanoi airport in Vietnam, Pickup and transfer to our hotel. Spend the day exploring the capital of Vietnam and getting ready to our upcoming adventure.

Day 2: Ancient Vietnam

Ancient Vietnam

Today we will drive south of Hanoi to the province of Ninh Binh. First we will visit the ancient capital of Vietnam at Hoa Lu and the remaining two temples of Dinh King & Le King then continue to Tam Coc where we will start our cycling tour around the beautiful countryside of Vietnam. Our first stop will be for a beautiful hike to Hang Mua peak for the breathtaking view over several rice fields and limestone peaks similar to those in Halong bay and that’s why this area is sometimes referred to as Halong on land. Afterwards we will continue cycling to the wharf where we hop on traditional rowing boats and enjoy paddling along the scenic Vietnamese countryside and through the Tam Coc grottoes. Afterwards we cycle back into town, have lunch then drive back to Hanoi.

Day 3: Trekking Sapa

Trekking Sapa

Drive to Sapa, have breakfast then start our hiking tour to explore Sapa village and enjoy the panoramic views of the villages among the terraces. Visit the Hmong living in wooden and bamboo houses then continue to Tavan village to visit the Dzay minority. Overnight in Tavan village at a Dzay family. Picnic lunch on the way and dinner at the home-stay

Day 4: Trekking Sapa

Trekking Sapa

Get up early in the morning to enjoy the daily life of the ethnic minorities in the village. Breakfast then take the road to Giang Ta Chai village of the Red Dzao minority via the paths between terraces and through bamboo forests. Visit silver waterfall and Rattan suspension Bridge, visit the people in the village and then cross Muong Hoa River up to the mountain to visit the last village on our trek Supan village of the Hmong. Transfer back to Sapa, have lunch then drive back to Hanoi.

Day 5: Ha Long Bay

Ha Long Bay

Breakfast then transfer to the harbor in Ha Long town where we are going to board our cruise to start sailing to the bay of the descending dragon aka Ha Long Bay, one of the world’s seven wonders of nature. We will pass by several islets with beautiful rock formations while having lunch then make a stop at one of the islands where we can hike to the top for a breathtaking view over the whole bay. Afterwards we will drop anchor at Vong Vieng floating village, a beautiful area where we will have time for swimming and kayaking around the bay and paddle around the beautiful islands and the towering limestone cliffs then relax and soak up the sun. As evening falls, we will return to the boat and have a delicious Vietnamese traditional dinner.

Day 6: Cat Ba Island

Breakfast then sail to visit a Pearl farm, see the real pearl products and understand the process of pearl making in Ha Long. Change onto a Day-boat going to Lan Ha Bay, stop at Viet Hai harbor where we are going to start our 5km biking ride through the amazing landscape of Cat Ba Island to Viet Hai village. After a quick ride around the village we cycle back to harbor, have lunch on board and keep sailing to explore Lan Ha bay until we reach our beach camp on a secluded part of Cat Ba island where we can enjoy the beach and the stunning surrounding scenery.

Day 7: Farewell Ha Long

Farewell Ha Long

Breakfast at the hotel in Cat Ba then transfer to the harbor to board our boat to sail back into Ha Long Bay with more amazing scenery along the way. Have lunch on the boat while sailing back to harbor, check-out cruise then drive back to Hanoi.

Phong Nha Extension

Tu Lan Cave Expedition ($380/4D3N)

Day 1

Arrival in Phong Nha on overnight bus from Hanoi. Checkin basic Hotel then go on adventure zipline and visit the dark cave then chill by the river for the rest of the day.

Day 2

Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park is the world’s caving capital as it’s home of more than 300 caves and grottoes including Son Doong, the world’s largest cave. First we will drive to Phong Nha national park and then embark on our expedition to explore Tu Lan cave, one of the most beautiful caves in the national park. Our expeditions starts by trekking across large fields and down to the Rao Nan River then we climb up a rocky hill to a small jungle opening then start our descent to Hung Ton Valley. Lunch will be served by the Hung Ton Cave opening and then the adventure picks up again with some serious trekking from Hung Ton Valley and over to Mango Mountain, then back down into Tu Lan Valley where we are going to spend the night. Our campsite is located next to a beautiful waterfall where we can enjoy some swimming in a serene environment, have dinner and overnight camping.

Day 3

Breakfast then continue our expedition into the Tu Lan cave. Starting with a brief swim across the river into the heart of Tu Lan Cave System, stop by the blue lagoon entrance before making our way downstream through Tu Lan Cave entrance.  Making our way up to explore the dry part with some climbing and squeezing, at which point we will reach the dry exit and trek a short way through valley into Kim Cave dry entrance.  Stay for a while to watch out for a natural window in Kim Cave, and we’ll then be off on a swim (450 m) and trek (500 m) through Hang Kim to To Mo Valley. A picnic lunch will be served next to a stunning waterfall by Hung Ton Cave mouth.  Then, we will try to follow a dry path before swimming out through Hung Ton wet cave. Following this is the exploration of a dry passage, and then a trek down into Hung Ton Valley (800 m) and finish our expedition in Tan Hoa where we can enjoy some refreshing drinks before leaving back to Phong Nha then drive back to Hanoi.
