Overview
The Inca Trail in the Andes mountains is by far the most famous trek in South America and is considered to be one of the top 5 treks in the world. The trail manages to combine beautiful mountain scenery, lush cloud-forest, subtropical jungle and a stunning mix of Inca paving stones, ruins and tunnels with Machu Picchu the lost city of the Incas as the final destination of the trail which makes this trek one of the most rewarding ones around the world.

Pickup from the airport and transfer to our hotel for check-in and some rest then spend the rest of the day exploring the capital of Peru and its colonial architecture.

Breakfast then drive back to the airport for a short flight to Cusco, the ancient capital of the Incas which is located at an altitude of 3400m above the sea level in midst of the Andes mountains range. Spend the day wandering around the city and acclimatizing to the high altitude.

The Sacred Valley of the Incas, just outside of Cusco, is a gorgeous sprawling span of green farms, lofty terraced mountains and contains numerous quaint towns unmoved by time, in addition to lively festivals and the best handicrafts in Peru. Our first stop is Pisaq (2970m) the artisanal capital of Peru, we can go for a short hike and visit the archaeological Inca sites and the Andean market. Afterwards we continue to Ollantaytambo (2850m), the only Inca town that remains inhabited. It is a wonderful example of pre-Colombian architecture, and here we will get to explore the expansive ruins overlooking the town.

Today we embark on our trekking expedition to Machu Picchu, the legendary lost city of the Incas along the ancient Inca Trail in the mighty Andes. First we drive on a scenic route to the beginning of the trail at Kilometer 82 then cross Vilcanota River and spend the next 4 days trekking in the Andes while passing by rivers, bridges, Inca ruins, green valleys and breathtaking Andean landscape until we reach the amazing sun gate from where we will have our first sight of Machu Picchu. After our tour in Machu Picchu we will descend to Aguas Calientes then take the train back to Cusco.
