Overview
A challenging but rewarding trek to summit Mount Toubkal, the highest peak in the Atlas Mountains and North Africa. This adventure will start from the beautiful city of Marrakech with its old markets and Kasbahs then continue to the High Atlas Mountains range to embark on our epic trek as we explore the beautiful nature of Toubkal National Park and the unique Berber culture along the way.
Our trek takes the circular route via the amazing Azzadene valley for better scenery and acclimatization.

Arrival at Marrakech airport, transfer to the Riad at the heart of the medina for check-in. overnight at the Riad.

Drive into the High Atlas Mountains range to Imlil, a small Berber village located in the heart of the Atlas mountains at an altitude of 1740m above sea level and which will be the starting point of our trek. First the muleteers will pack our luggage, food & all other equipment that we need for our trek. We start by climbing out of Imlil valley then to Tizi n’Mzik pass (2,450m), which offers dramatic mountain views. From here, the trail descends down into the spectacular Azzadene valley. We will pass the village of Azib n’Tansoult and the pretty D’Irhouliden waterfalls, before continuing to the Lepiney mountain refuge (3,000m) for overnight.

Trekking Time: 6 hours
Today involves a fairly stiff climb out of the Azzadene Valley to the Toubkal Refuge. We will start by climbing the Aguelzim Mountain pass (3,560m) then lunch will be served in a beautiful spot with panoramic views over the Atlas Mountain Range. Afterwards we will begin our descent to the Toubkal Mountain Refuge (Neltner Hut) at 3,206m.

We wake up early in the morning, have breakfast and continue our ascent to the summit of Mount Toubkal. The route to the summit is quite challenging but the surrounding scenery makes it worth a while. Upon reaching the summit, we will be rewarded with an amazing panoramic view over the High Atlas Mountains, the green valleys & Berber villages. We will spend sometime on North Africa’s highest peak, taking pictures and have a small snack then we trek back to the refuge.

After Breakfast we will trek back to Imlil to meet with our van and transfer back to Marrakech.
